The Mission

This website contains ADULT CONTENT and ADULT LANGUAGE; forewarned is forearmed.

It shall serve as the anchor for my transition from casual DFS player to a player for profit and also as a document of accountability.

About Me

I am Matt Edwards. I have a good job with great benefits. My wife is everything I could have asked for. My mortgage on my nice home is well ahead of schedule and I invest far more in my 401(k) than I do playing DFS. AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: I HAVE ALWAYS PLAYED WITH THE BEER MONEY, NEVER, EVER THE RENT.

My DFS Life

I play DFS on DraftKings, primarily, and FanDuel as emeraldfenix. I started playing somewhere between 2014 and 2016 and have lost a guesstimated $5,000-$7,000 since then (ambiguities to be cleared up later). I have lost most of my money chasing the big dollars in the enormous GPPs. My biggest win was a $50 PGA tournament with 227 entrants where I took first worth $1000. I brought home $500 and pissed away the rest chasing the bigger money. I spent an entire 10 months playing DraftKings daily completing as many missions as I could to rack up the crowns so I could get the DK custom jersey, not available with cash, and I got it. It was during that quest that I got out of my NFL comfort zone and experimented with PGA, NBA, MLB, NHL, the various worldwide soccer leagues, NASCAR, and MMA. Once I had the jersey, though, I stayed cozy with the NFL, the PGA to comfort me during the offseason.

The Rub

The problem is that in my 13 years on the job, it has gotten stupider and more abrasive year after year and I'm tired of it. The problem is that I am losing money at DFS. The solution is to make money at DFS. The path . . . Well, the path has been circuitous. I've done much reading on the ways to increase one's bankroll and it all comes back to one simple thing. Bankroll management. Look it up and form your own opinions, but that's why I am creating the following rules. These rules are based on my interpretation of my research. Look these up, also, because I am currently teaching myself these: Python, PostgreSQL, and R, as well as finding good sources of data. Footballdb.com is a good place to start. It's a process that takes more time when you work 12 hours a day (another motivating factor).

The Rules

5/30/19 - Only budget a maximum of 20% of the bankroll.
5/30/19 - Account daily on the website.
5/31/19 - Play between 20-25%(inclusive) tournament, the rest DU with preference given to DU in low budget cases (ex: $7 budget).
6/1/19 - If the bankroll goes below $25, deposit $25.
6/1/19 - If the bankroll goes over $125, recoup the deposits in $25 increments until they have been equalized.
6/6/19 - Dummy lineups always; no blank reservations.

This is an impermanent document, but that's it for now.
